What to see at the Festival

The Palais des Festival

With five auditorium from 150 to 2.300 seats, including the large auditorium Louis Lumière and the Théâtre Claude Debussy, 40 rooms, 35 thousand square meters of exhibition space and beautiful terraces overlooking the bay of Cannes is the centerpiece of the event.

The Croisette

It’s the most famous promenade in Cannes, one of the most elegant streets in the world here in festival time you will find all kinds of people, from film fans seeking autographs, the exhibitionists, from rich bejeweled ladies to the merely curious.

Where to meet celebrities

Have you decided on a trip to Cannes during the festival and you want to take this opportunity to see up close some Vip? So the easiest way is to get in line in front of the steps of the Palais des Festivals. All celebrities are not lost in fact the ascent of the stairs covered with red, the most important ritual of the event which takes place at 07.30 p.m. and at 10.30 p.m every night. This ceremony is repeated without variation of more than sixty years, and the protocol provides that the director, the producer and the two main actors of the film go up the stairs together, with the greeting of the Republican Guard or the police in full uniform.

You can meet the stars around the Palais, on the private beach or in the many bars and restaurants. La Palme d'Or, the restaurant of the chef Christian Sinicropi (two Michelin stars) is one of the favorite boards by the protagonists of the Festival who attend the terrace above the restaurant. Or on the other side of the Croisette, the seaside, the Zplage, a popular bar that offers cocktails and from 18 exclusive parties. Another popular destination from the protagonists of the film festival is the Palais Stéphanie, at number 50 on the Croisette. With its incomparable view from the terrace organizes parties unforgettable. Otherwise you can opt for the Blue Bar (opposite Christian Dior corner of the Croisette and rue André, Pavillon Croisette at number 42) or Planet Hollywood.

Another attraction for tourists and actors are the three casinos in the city: the Barrière Croisette, the Barrière Les Princes and the Palm Beach Casino on the tip of the Croisette.
